    LENTEN ADORATION at MARY QUEEN OF PEACE PARISH

    ​The St. Joseph Adoration Chapel, Lower Church, 118 High Street, Medford, MA is open Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm for Lenten Adoration.

    St. Francis of Assisi Upper Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, MA is open Mondays from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm for Rosary and Lenten Adoration.

    Hand sanitizer and wipes are provided. Please follow safety protocols - wear a mask and practice social distancing.

    40 HOURS of ADORATION

    The Adoration Team at St. Joseph Church, invites you to 40 Hours of Adoration beginning Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 4pm and ending on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 8am in honor of the Feast of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church.
    Please commit to spend some time with Our Lord during Lent and in this special Year of St. Joseph.
    ​Please follow all safety protocols while visiting the Adoration Chapel.

    Special Edition Holy Cloak Novena for the Year of St. Joseph 
    Holy Cloak Novena Booklets published for the Year of St. Joseph are available from the Legion of Mary by emailing adoration24sj@comcast.net or calling 781-391-1396.  The Novena in honor of  St. Joseph contains the Litany of St. Joseph by which you may gain a plenary indulgence during this special year under the usual conditions.  The Year of St. Joseph is granted by the Holy See from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Proclamation of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church.

    LENTEN REGULATIONS

    Abstinence:  Catholics over 14 years of age are bound to the obligations of abstinence.  Abstinence is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.  Meat should not be consumed on days of abstinence.
     
    Fasting:  Catholics from the age of 18 to 59 are bound to the obligation of fasting. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the days of fasting.  On these days, only one full meal is allowed.  Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain one’s strength, may be consumed, but together they should not equal another full meal.  Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed.
